Silver pyjamas to fight MRSA
AN unlikely new weapon in the fight against deadly hospital infections is being tested at Newham University Hospital.
Patient pyjamas made with a fabric containing threads of silver are expected to be introduced for 12 months as part of the hospital\'s attempts to eliminate MRSA.
Anti-MRSA silver pyjamas trialled
Pyjamas and bed linen made with silver cloth are being trialled in a hospital to help combat the MRSA superbug.
Experts at Barts and the London NHS Trust hope to prove that silver can be used to clear MRSA on the skin and thus protect vulnerable patients.
Anti-Fungal Experiment
See it SAFE® Tested in Belgium

In June 2006 an experiment was conducted for Toray in Belgium to ascertain the anti-fungal properties of our 'See It Safe' fabric range.
A piece of standard polyester fabric was placed in a container of milk alongside a piece of fabric from our 'See It Safe' range.
Within 48 hours at room temperature the standard fabric exhibited severe fungal growth, whilst the 'See It safe' fabric was clear.

Early press reports on the anti-microbial effects of the new See-it-Safe range of fabrics from Toray Textiles have created such a high demand that the company has decided to sell pyjamas made from the material direct to the public until manufacturers begin to use it for themselves.
